the insights of today’s most legendary graphic designers as they
speak about the best-kept secrets (and failures) of their business lives.
Inside the Business of Graphic Design casts a precise and realistic
light on the risks, requirements, and rewards of running a creative and
successful design business. Six sections discuss the entire cycle of business
ownership, including goal setting, finding the right management style,
cooperating with employees, triggering growth, rethinking one’s business
in the face of major changes, and even whether to stay with the business
or move on. Whether you dream of setting up a small studio, or whether
you’ve been on your own for years, this provocative guide is an important
source of success strategies for every graphics professional. These days, nobody really wants to learn everything
there is to know about shooting, editing, and authoring digital movies.
And even if you did, who has the time to endlessly tinker and play with
it until you figure everything out?
You just
want a book that will quickly show you how to get things done - things
that aren't already covered in the docs that came with your digital
camera or software, and things you can't just figure out on your own.
Digital Video in a Snap is designed specifically for today's computer user:
Somebody who is new to digital video editing and authoring, but not new to computers. Somebody who doesn't have time for long-winded, mind-numbing explanations - and certainly no time or patience for bad jokes.
Organized
into a series of well-organized, bite-sized, quickly accomplished
tasks, this book lets the reader zero right in on the one particular
task he or she wants to accomplish, quickly figure out what to do, do
it, and then get back to work. Multimedia stands as one of the most challenging and exciting aspects of the information era. Although there are books available that deal with various facets of multimedia, the field has urgently needed a comprehensive look at recent developments in the systems, processing, and applications of image and video data in a multimedia environment.Multimedia Image and Video Processing fills that need. Beginning with existing standards and their impact on multimedia image and video processing, experts from around the world address a broad spectrum of topics in a tutorial style. Their authoritative contributions cover the pros and cons of current and new architectures, conventional and intelligent image processing techniques, new developments in the compression and coding of video and images, and content-based image and video retrieval. The book's final chapters examine recent results in multimedia applications, including transcoding for multipoint video conferencing, distance education, video-on-demand and telemedicine. The extremely rapid growth of this field means that books even just a few years old may offer information that is already obsolete. Multimedia Image and Video Processing offers not only recent research and developments, but does so in a way that provides a solid introduction to each topic and builds a basis for future study, research, and development.
